Description
Overview
Any organization whose work involves exposure to blood or other infectious body fluids is required to comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA’s) Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) standard. Such organizations include those involved with the research, development or distribution of blood products, medical devices (e.g., syringes, vascular access devices, scalpels), and training materials related to the standard.
This webinar will provide an overview of the BBP standard, identify specific areas where compliance is sometimes challenging, and describe the consequences of non-compliance. The webinar will also describe recent changes in bloodborne pathogen diseases (e.g., Zika virus, Ebola) and provide data showing where exposures are most likely to occur.
Why Should you attend:
An Exposure Control Plan is required by law for companies that are regulated by the Code of Federal Regulations, such as 29CFR1910.1030. Because the BBP standard applies in such a wide variety of settings, guidance on the essential elements of the standard with guidance on how to write, organize and maintain compliance is essential. Failure to have a properly developed BBP program may result in monetary fines from OSHA as well as exposure risks that can damage the reputation and function of regulated organizations.
This webinar will show you how to write, organize, and maintain a BBP Exposure Control Plan; effectively train personnel to reduce risk; and provide reliable resources for further inquiry.
