The 2019 ICD-10-CM codes introduce nearly 500 changes, the majority of them in Internal Medicine. And the October 1, 2018 take-effect date is looming. What’s new? You’ll see a handful of new codes that address sexual and labor exploitation, for both adults and children (T74 and T76 series). The 2019 ICD-10 also introduces more than 20 new codes for post-procedure infection (T81.4 series)—and deletes three. There are also 17 added codes for ecstasy poisoning (T43.64 series), as well as more Merkel cell codes; codes addressing Zika virus and cannabis use; and revised lipoprotein and lipedema codes.
